I have been very pragmatic in my approach - I aim to make people get reading as quickly as possible; I don't focus on making them Sanskrit grammar pandits. That can come later.

The etymology is interesting
पाद​ (foot) +पः (drinker) = पादपः = that which drinks through its foot = plant (metaphorically)
न्यग्रोध​ means something that grows from up to down and anyone who has seen a large banyan tree can attest to this!
