Arsenal 2-0 Man United | Tactical Thread
➡️ Amorim failed to target the Zinny X Kiwi Axis
➡️ Diallo should have been RIF, Garnacho RWB
➡️ Rice given acres of space to drive into
➡️ Arsenal's set piece coach MOTM again
➡️ Ugarte has more direction to his possession game

United's positional network highlights two key facets of their game...
The good, their backline was difficult to break down in open play but in the second half the gap between midfield and defence was too big and allowed Rice to take charge.
Worse still, there was zero penetration to their possession.
Arsenal lacked overlaps, so once again found it difficult to truly open up United especially in the first half and this is an issue that will possibly haunt them as the season progresses but they did have much more front foot territorial domination than United. x.com
Amorim messed up by not targetting Arsenal's weak left flank from the start. Did not understand why he chose such a meek right flank from an attacking POV.
By putting guys like Garnacho/Diallo out there, it would have freed up Hojlund to go up against Kiwior and focus on off the ball runs.
Even 3 v 1, 2 v 1, Saka was still able to glide inside and outside and keep United on their toes.
Not a easy player for United to combat and always felt like an outlet for United. x.com
Finally, the gap in United's midfield and the disrespect shown to Arsenal's left side, allowed Rice to have one of his better games in quite a while.
He drove into the space and pierced United time and time again in the second half. x.com
