The People of Jammu Kashmir are not restricted from crossing the Ceasefire Line it is not a legally recognized international boundary:
In #POJK Pakistan-administered Kashmir, they've filed a case against a woman from #IOJK Indian-administered Kashmir for illegally crossing the Line of Control.
Has The Ruling Elite of Azaad Kashmir accepted the Ceasefire Line as an International Border!
They’ve put her in judicial custody for it. This actually shows that the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government now seems to view the ceasefire line as a permanent border between India and Pakistan, which only strengthens India’s position on the whole issue.
The woman crossed the Line of Control from Poonch two days ago, and her relatives live in Haveli, Azad Kashmir. She crossed the ceasefire line to marry her relative, Imran Mir, whom she met on social media.
Her relative works in Saudi Arabia and had returned home a few days ago. Police arrested both the woman and the man from his house in Kerni, Haveli, after the girl reached there.
The charge against her is that she crossed the Line of Control illegally, which is supposed to be just a ceasefire line, not a permanent border.
The AJK government has always referred to it as a ceasefire line, and they've claimed that Kashmiris have the right to cross it.
However, in this case, the boy, Imran Mir, has been charged with facilitating her illegal crossing of the Line of Control, which is considered an offense under the current laws governing movement across the border.
The actions of successive governments in Azad Kashmir have only served to strengthen India’s stance on this matter, rather than challenging it.
For decades, these governments have claimed to represent the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir, but honestly, this claim has mostly been used for their own political gain.
They’ve done very little to actually address the needs or aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Their policies have mostly aligned with India’s position, rather than reflecting the true desires of the people they claim to represent.
It’s really unfortunate because they’ve prioritized their political goals over the welfare of millions of Kashmiris.
Now, the situation is such that people in Indian-administered Kashmir have to think twice before even crossing the Line of Control into Azad Kashmir, because it could land them in jail.
Things have really taken a turn, and it’s becoming riskier for anyone trying to move between the two regions.
