A THREAD ON INVALIDATING THE ERRONEOUS MYTH OF NIYOGA GENESIS OF THE KSHATRIYAS
The scornful theorem of the so-called 'Niyoga Origin' stands as the most frequent trickery employed by those bereft of history, seeking to belittle the Rajputs/Kshatriyas.
The essence of this snide remark lies in the context where, following Parshuram's annihilation of the Kshatriyas, the Kshatriya women, yearning for sons, went to the sages who bestowed upon them male offspring. Thus, these sons emerged as Kshatriyas in their own right.
There exists a misguided assertion among the stratum lacking historical importance that contemporary Rajputs/Kshatriyas are merely the progeny of a Brahmin father and a Kshatriya mother, thus suggesting a lineage of Niyog origin.
The entirety of this narrative is meticulously chronicled in Mahabharata, (Shanti Parva, Chapter 49) where the entire account has been revealed unto Maharaja Yudhishthir by Shri Krishna.
In this section, as the narrative unfolds, it is noteworthy that Shri Krishna does not assert that the current Kshatriyas, who inhabit the present age, are the progeny of a Brahmin father and a Kshatriya mother following the annihilation of all Kshatriyas by Parshuram.
Shri Krishna tells Maharaja Yudhishthir that while Parshuram was exterminating Kshatriyas, many of the Kshatriya princes of pure birth (Suryavanshi & Chandravanshi) were concealed or hidden by the Earth herself at different spots to protect them from the extinction.
Subsequently, these Kshatriya princes were anointed by Rishi Kashyap, ensuring their reign would be marked by righteousness and devoid of any earthly transgressions. The current lineage of Kshatriyas traces its roots back to these princes, rather than from any Niyoga practices.
Hindi rendition of the aforementioned chapter
According to another story, in the Padma Purana, a completely different term was employed to refer to the descendants of Brahmins and Kshatriyas, known as ‘Jatharas’.
The term ‘Jatharas’ was initially associated with the Jat community, although some assert that 'Jathara' represents a subdivision within the Karhade Brahmins of the Deccan India.
Regardless of their genuine origins, the ‘Jatharas’ are most probably deemed extinct in contemporary times and have never been linked or associated with the Rajputs/Kshatriyas at any point in history.
It can therefore be deduced that the idea of Rajputs/Kshatriyas having a Niyoga origin is nothing more than a fanciful tale lacking any solid proof, and the Rajputs/Kshatriyas of today are truly of unblemished lineage.
