Raja Vithoji Babaji Bhonsale had 8 legitimate sons -
• Sambhaji Vithoji Bhonsale
• Kheloji Vithoji Bhonsale
• Maloji Vithoji Bhonsale
• Mambaji Vithoji Bhonsale
• Nagoji Vithoji Bhonsale

• Trymbakji Vithoji Bhonsale

Apart from this, it was Raja Vithoji Babaji Bhonsale only who raised his Brother's Sons Shahaji Maloji Bhonsale and Sharifji Maloji Bhonsale as his own and managed the combined Bhonsale kingdom.
So effectively he raised 10 sons. A truly noble man like his brother Malojiraje.

At the Khandagale Hatti Prakarna, Maharaja Vithoji Babaji Bhonsale's Eldest Son Sambhaji Vithoji Bhonsale was killed by Maharaja Lakhuji Vithoji Jadhavrao (Shahaji Maloji Bhonsale's Father-In-Law) because Sambhaji had killed Lakhuji's Son Dattaji Lakhuji Jadhavrao in the chaos.
Following Sambhajiraje's death, Kheloji Vithoji Bhonsale became the Patriarch.
But his family's relations with Shahaji Maloji Bhonsale, after Battle of Bhatvadi, broke.
With his brother Sharifji Maloji Bhonsale's heroic sacrifice, Shahajiraje had attained celebrityhood then.

Khelojiraje and other sons of Vithoji Babaji Bhonsale jealously lobbied with Malik Ambar against Maharaja Shahaji Maloji Bhonsale, forcing him to leave Nizamshahi Sultanate.
Flow of history thereon for Kheloji was tough.
Khelojiraje, Maloji & Parsoji joined Shah Jahan in 1629.

This was part of their double game. To use the vaccum caused by the Shah Jahan's invasion against Nizamshahi Empire to gain new territories.
However by the time Daulatabad Fort (close to original Verulkar Bhonsale fiefdom) began to fall in 1633, Khelojiraje came to his senses.

Realizing that fall of Nizamshahi would mean permanent establishment of Mughal presence, Khelojiraje went to the Adilshahi Empire and with their sanction, waged a lone war against the Mughals.
He repeatedly attacked Mughal forces.
Now note the stupidity of his whole trajectory.

Had Kheloji Vithoji Bhonsale supported his brother Maharaja Shahajiraje Bhonsale from start, such dire straits would have never arisen. Now Kheloji Vithoji Bhonsale was all alone.
His brothers Maloji and Parsoji Bhonsale could not risk extinction by joining him at such a point.

It was sheer luck that from otherwise treacherous Mughals, honourable & only wealth-seeking Subehdar Mahabat Khan (highest ranking Non-Mughal Mansabdar in history) was sent against Khelojiraje Bhonsale.
We can also gauge the esteem of Khelojiraje, from Mahabat Khan's deployment.

Khelojiraje Vithojiraje Bhonsale (with his brothers) had earlier served under Mahabat Khan Sayyid's son Khan Zaman Khanazad Amanullah Beg Sayyid Radavi when he was under Mughals, hence it was Mahabat Khan only who was sent to quell the sudden rebellion.
Kheloji's good fortune is indicated by fact that Mahabat was famously known for being irreligious and did not possess determined bigotry.
Mahabat Khan had literally defeated Imperial Mughal Armies and fought across length and breadth of India, before he was sent against Kheloji.

Khelojiraje Bhonsale fought in plains of Maharashtra, in exposed land. Unlike his cousin and future Marathas' warmachine.
Mahabat Khan was able to imprison Kheloji's wife by a raid on Godavari (Nashik?). All records state she was treated honourably while Kheloji was threatened.

How was this possible?
It is because Maloji Vithoji Bhonsale & Parsoji Vithoji Bhonsale cleverly came with Mahabat Khan, and their presence thus secured honour of their Sister-in-Law (who was obviously kept with their lobby in Mahabat's camp).
Jadunath ignores this like always.

After a payment of a lakh of Hons (which must have drained his treasury tremendously), Kheloji Vithoji Bhonsale's wife was restored with full respects.
Mahabat Khan Khan-E-Khanan Sipahsalar Zamana Beg Kabuli did not pursue any other attack and was sent to conquer Paranda Fort.

If not for Khan Dauran's reinforcements, the Maratha Lion Shahajiraje Bhonsale would have killed Mahabat Khan.
Anyways soon afterwards Shah Khan made peace with Adilshahi and Khelojiraje was now without money or a government's support.
His last days were spent in a lone war.

In 1639 Aurangzeb's spies managed to find Khelojiraje's base near Daulatabad and deployed Malik Hussain to ambush him treacherously.
And thus a Maratha Lord died, fighting for freedom but no clear nationalist ideology, no allies, no money.
His brothers have some further records.

These two Maratha Lords were both present in Battle of Samugarh & Battle of Dharmat.
Of course they had minimal involvement in action, merely acting as Perimeter Defense for commander Jaswantsinh Rathore's own camp.
Aurangzeb's forces won and both fled along with Jaswantsinh.

Throughout history it was standard Maratha subterfuge while serving in a faction of Mlecchas to wait till they saw one or both sides weakened, then proceed to loot their camp while fighters are busy in the fray.
This subterfuge seems to have begun with Maloji & Parsoji Bhonsale.

But we know at Bhatvadi, Maharaja Lakhuji Jadhavrao had similarly acted while on side of Mughals.
Anyways, after Battle of Samugarh where also Bhonsales had minimal action, they blamelessly joined Aurangzeb when he emerged victorious.
He resentfully accepted their submission.

Of course Aurangzeb grew distrustful of Bhonsales as a whole (Chattrapati Shivaji Shahaji Bhonsale Maharaja's power), and in 3rd year of his illegitimate reign, dismissed the brothers.
With an annual pension of 30,000 & 20,000 Rupees from Mughals, the brothers retired in peace.

This Jalgaon is near Amravati, not the one of Khandesh.
So thus the Maratha Bhonsale presence had existed in Varhad Maharashtra legitimately for decades before Hinganikar Senasahebsubah Bhonsales conquered it. There are countless records like this of Marathas owning land there.
