LAMINE YAMAL - THE BIGGEST TALENT IN THE WORLD 🔥
There is an argument to be made that the 16 year old has been the best chance creator of the tournament, despite the EUROS featuring the likes of De Bruyne, Saka and Bruno Fernandes. Hear me out.
Only Doku (13) has completed more dribbles than Lamine Yamal (11). Now, dribbles only tell you so much. For example, Adama Traore is a world class dribbler, but has limits in other aspects of his game. Lamine does not.
Spain’s winger ranks first in two interesting metrics:
🥇 xA: 1.2 (The chance of each completed pass becoming an assist).
🥇 xAG: 1.7 (The xG which follows a pass that assists a shot) -fbref.com
“Oh, it’s just statistics”. Well…
… it’s the same criteria for every player. Why are they not there? It’s not a coincidence that the top consists of players like Lamine, De Bruyne and Kroos. They are the best.
Going even further, Lamine Yamal ranks third for most key passes (pass leading to a shot) out of all the players. He has Kroos and Eriksen above him, but they have played 351 minutes compared to Lamine’s 261.
Lamine Yamal has registered 2 assists in the campaign so far. No player has registered more, but he has been arguably the best chance creator. He can create a chance in every possible way (dribbles, final passes, combinations)..
The main criticism towards him has been the lack of goals, despite being in good positions. This should not be a worry at all. In fact, it’s another testament to his incredible quality.
Lamine Yamal has taken 11 shots. In total, he has accumulated an xG (removing penalties) worth 1.4. This puts him in 7th place among all players. Yes, he should have scored more, but imagine when he starts scoring….
We are talking about one of the best creators of the tournament who constantly gets into good goalscoring positions. Lamine Yamal is the biggest talent in the world without a shadow of doubt.
