The snippet shown here talks about the custom of " bride buying ".
It was prevalent amongst all the sections of Hindu society back then, the practise of female infanticide being the primary reason .....
Now talking specifically about the snippet shown here, it is has been taken from Malcolm Lyal's " Rusticus Loquitur "
The snippet has been deliberately cropped in order to conceal the fact that the entire transaction was taking place among different classes of Rajput clans only.
More on the custom of bride buying being practised amongst different sections of the Hindu society – like Jats, Gujjars, Meos, Brahmins etc ....
