Why Barca should NOT sell Ansu Fati in the summer 🔥
(A Thread)
- Market value: €25.00m
- Contract length: Jun 30, 2027
- Age: 21
Ansu Fati is playing in a position Barca are desperate to strengthen in the summer. However, he is unlikely to be the solution.
Many claim it's better to sell him now while he is still at the age of 21. Personally, I think that would be a mistake. Ansu Fati is set to return from a failed loan spell at Brighton.
He is on an all-time low, and no clubs will offer serious money for a player who is unavailable for large parts of the season. Still, this is a player who scored 8 goals in his debut season at the age of 16.
Physically he might not be the same, but the goalscoring instincts are there. I think he has a lot of work to do mentally - confidence & has to learn to trust his body. What should be our next move?
The best we can do is keep him for preseason, then explore a new loan deal. Sevilla, Villarreal, or Girona could all be alternatives. If that does not work, look for clubs in the Netherlands/Germany.
Ansu Fati has to go to a club where he can get consistent game time. That must be the main focus. Sevilla is my preferred choice being in a rebuild phase with Pimienta leading the project.
I would rather keep him for next season than sell him for nothing in the summer. I don't think selling Ansu Fati as things stand is worth it.
We should only consider a sale once Ansu Fati has shown glimpses of what he can do on a consistent basis. What if it never happens? Well, I am willing to take the risk. It is a gamble, but I strongly believe it is 100% justified.
