🇮🇱🇲🇽 “Claudia Sheinbaum promises Israel that CDMX will not fall into the agenda of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic hate groups”
In May 2019, Israel’s Embassy in Mexico celebrated Israel's 71st anniversary of independence by hosting: photography exhibitions, workshops for children, cinema, readings aloud by Israeli writers and dance demonstrations to the most emblematic subway stations throughout the month of May.
Pro-Palestinians protested the event in an effort to get it shut down.
The Israeli embassy called them “anti-semitic” hate groups, when in reality it was just pro-Palestinian protestors who objected to the agenda of the event.
The event showcased 12 photographs of the Golan Heights, East Jerusalem and the West Bank belonging to Israel.
“Mexico City asked for the photographs to be removed after almost 40 Mexican organizations, unions and networks and diplomatic missions from Palestine, the Arab world and member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation raised concern over the exhibit because it did not respect international law and Mexico’s official position on the territories Israel occupies.”
This led to the city administration taking down those 12 photographs.
The entire event was an Israeli propaganda campaign in order to present Israel as some sort of beacon of light in the Middle East, while ignoring the oppression they inflict upon the Palestinians.
In response to this event, Claudia took the side of Israel, NOT the protestors.
Statement from the the Israeli Embassy in Mexico:
"We feel optimistic about the promise that the Head of Government of Mexico City, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum, made to Ambassador Jonathan Peled, in a meeting they held last Monday, May 27, to not allow this city to fall on the agenda of these hate groups and continue working to maintain friendship, cultural and technological cooperation for the benefit of the capital's population.
The Embassy of Israel will continue working to share culture with all of Mexico and support its development.”
Claudia agreed with the Israeli embassy that the pro-Palestinan protestors were a “hate group” for protesting against Israel claiming territories as their own that were not recognized by Mexico.

Claudia often meets with the “Comunidad Judía de México” which in English translates to “Jewish Community of Mexico” (CCCJM)
Like a lot Jewish NGO’s, the group names itself after the Jewish community but in reality it's a Zionist-Lobbying group.
CCCJM:
⁃ Actively promotes solidarity with Israel through various public statements, educational programs, and cultural events to emphasise the relationship between Israel and the Jewish community in Mexico.
⁃ Tribuna Israelita, the executive arm of the CCCJM, is heavily involved in advocacy and “anti-defamation” efforts (sound familiar?), and promotes a positive image of Israel in Mexican society.
⁃ Organizes educational programs and events that highlight “Israeli culture”, “history”, and contemporary issues. These initiatives often include lectures, film screenings, and cultural festivals that aim to strengthen the connection between the Mexican Jewish community and Israel.
⁃ Engages in political advocacy to support Israel. This includes lobbying efforts with Mexican government officials to promote favorable policies towards Israel and to strengthen diplomatic ties between the two countries.
⁃ Collaborates with Israeli institutions and organizations, facilitating exchanges and partnerships that benefit Mexico's relations with Israel. This includes cooperation in areas such as education, technology, and “cultural exchange“.
In April of this year, Claudia had a meeting with Eran Hazary, an official of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) who said it was a “privilege” meeting her.

⁃ Maintains a robust presence in Washington, D.C., where it engages with U.S. lawmakers to advocate for strong U.S.-Israel relations. This includes supporting foreign aid to Israel, ensuring security assistance, and promoting legislation that counters efforts to delegitimize Israel internationally.
⁃ Works globally to foster diplomatic relations between Israel and other countries. They often facilitate high-level meetings between Israeli officials and leaders from around the world, Claudia in this case, promoting dialogue and cooperation on issues affecting Israel.
⁃ Actively engage with international organizations like the United Nations to address and counter resolutions or actions that they view as biased against Israel.
