Let me explain it in easy words. AI models allows users to generate comments based on a certain input. One can easily programme it do this is mass level.
But what if an operator misuse it to generate fake opinions & deploy humans or bots to influence on the social media?

OpenAI busted such 5 operators, whereas 2 were related to Russia, 1 for China, 1 for Iran, and 1 for Gaza conflict and Indian election.

The influence operator (IO) nicknamed Zero Zeno is an Israeli political campaign management company STOIC. This IO was making anti-Hamas, pro-Israel, anti-BJP and pro-Congress comments on X, Insta, FB, YT etc using AI models.

This spamouflaging (Spam + camouflage) was happening through bots also. e.g. here the handle who made a comment against BJP's @amitmalviya , was commenting for Canada and USA matters sometimes back.
These bots were criticising BJP and praising Congress.

OpenAI defensive mechanism identified these IO and suspended their use. As per the company's research these IOs were blocked before they could make a large scale harm.

Many platforms like X, Meta also identified these bots (as routine exercise) and neutralised it.
However, it's difficult to say that the threat has been completely mitigated. Its complex technical world with a cat n mouse games.

Needless to say that this Israeli company is a commercial profit making reay to hire who exploited technology.

There has been clear attempts to influence elections in favour of Congress/Gandhi.

This is an alarm and @GoI_MeitY @Rajeev_GoI build our own defence system to identify and neutralise such threat operators before they influence our huge number of internet users, specially, youngsters.
