#ONEPIECE Theory
The Final Battle Of The Void Century -
The Battle Of Shandora
In this theory, I will piece together all of the lore that we know so far, and attempt to persuade you of the truth depth of significance to the "Battle of Shandora."
I believe that this was the final battle of the Void Century. Let me explain why, and how.
Let's get in to it.
Way back in chapter 272, Robin discovered the ruins of Shandora.
It was here that she found remnants of the Poneglyphs, and discovered that the city had been ruined in a battle against "the enemy."
When we look closer at this information, we can realise that it connects directly to dialogue from Professor Clover, in chapter 395.
Shandora serves as an example of exactly what Clover was talking about when he questioned the Gorosei about the purpose of the Poneglyphs.
The fact that multiple Poneglyphs can still be found in Shandora also indicates an alliance with Wano. Robin comments that at least one of the Poneglyphs was transported to Shandora.
We know that the Poneglyph that was placed at the centre of the "Great Bell" is one of the "Real Poneglyphs," of which there are 9 in total. These 9 stones combine to reveal the "True History."
This one revealed the location of the Ancient Weapon, Poseidon.
However, there is an interesting detail that I observed that may indicate that this was not the only Real Poneglyph that was originally housed in Shandora.
Above the alter in which it was kept, there are exactly 8 visible cube-shaped holes in the golden monument.
On top of that, there is also a reference to the Great Bell originally being surrounded by exactly 4 alters. Some of which we saw throughout Skypiea.
Is it just a coincidence that there are exactly 4 "Road Poneglyphs"?
Perhaps, but I think not.
I believe that all 9 of the "Real Poneglyphs" and all 4 of the "Road Poneglyphs" were originally housed in Shandora. It would be this that led to "the enemy" invading them in the first place.
This was likely one of the final events of the previous "Great Cleansing."
If this is true, then it also establishes a direct connection to Nefertari D. Lili. Imu said that she was responsible for the Poneglyphs being scattered around the world.
It is very possible that the Battle of Shandora followed immediately after Lili joined the D. Clan.
This connection is strongly supported by the fact that Shandora fought to protect the Poneglyphs, and this was part of Lili's last will and message.
'The Poneglyphs must be protected!'
When all of these dots are connected, it becomes apparent that the purpose of the battle was an attempt to enact the mission that Lili laid out for them. Protecting the Poneglyphs against "The Enemy."
This also gives us a very strong indication that this was one of the final events of the Void Century, as it took place around the same time that Lili left the World Government alliance, refusing to take the oath of the "Empty Throne."
We can also infer that this battle was fought by the Shandorians in an alliance with Wano, and perhaps also the people of Fishman Island.
Their defeat in this battle would explain the context behind Joyboy's apology to Poseidon.
This event may also hold the answer to why the Iron Giant is apologising to Joyboy.
If we look at the map of Skypiea, we can notice that there is an Ancient Giant depicted roaming around.
Perhaps this and the Iron Giant are one and the same.
There is just "One Piece" missing from this puzzle, and that is how the Poneglyphs were all moved.
On this matter, I agree with the popular theory that this was the "crime" that the Buccaneers committed.
And here's the icing on the cake.
When Noland discovered Shandora 400 years later, but then it was knocked up in to the sky by the Knock-Up Stream, what did he suggest could be the reason.
It must have sunk in to the sea.
That's just about all I've got for this one, thanks for reading 🙏 Let me know if I missed anything that you noticed
