Silent Betrayal: Azad Kashmir's Elite Masters of Indifference
Amidst the chaos of Kashmir's plight, there exists a breed of #leaders who have mastered the art of silence. These political elites of #AzadKashmir, draped in the shroud of indifference, have scripted a saga of neglect
2. and apathy towards their own people.
As the clock struck ten on that ominous night of August 4, 2019, #Kashmir descended into a silence so profound, it echoed the deafening footsteps of #Indiansoldiers. With 700,000 boots already treading the valley's soil,
3. ,another 200,000 were summoned to fortify the cage around 8000,000 souls. From newborns to centenarians, all were sentenced to the same fate – confinement within the walls of their own homes, while armed sentinels patrolled the streets, ready to extinguish any flicker of
4. resistance.
But amidst this humanitarian crisis, where despair mingled with the stench of oppression, the political elites of Azad Kashmir chose a peculiar path – the path of silence. As Genocide Watch sounded its clarion call and the world watched in horror, these leaders
5. remained ensconced in their palaces of privilege, deaf to the cries of their brethren across the border.
Even as Modi's juggernaut trampled over Kashmir's economy, leaving half a million jobless and countless businesses in ruins, the elites turned a blind eye, their
6. pockets heavy with the spoils of exploitation. Luxury vehicles adorned their driveways, salaries inflated, and allowances lavished, all while the Kashmiri populace drowned in a sea of suffering.
Their silence reverberated through the valleys and peaks, echoing the screams of
7. Burhan Wani, the tears of grieving mothers, and the blood spilled on the streets. From 2008 to 2019, from Kargil to the present day, their silence has been the only constant in an ever-changing landscape of turmoil and strife.
Yet, amidst their silence, they claim to be
8. the voice of Kashmir, the torchbearers of justice on the international stage. But their hollow words betray the truth – that their silence is not a sign of powerlessness, but of complicity. They have morphed into the very beneficiaries of the conflict they claim to represent,
9. exploiting the miseries of their people for political and financial gain.
As the Indian forces unleashed their tirade of abuse upon Kashmiri women, the political elite of Azad Kashmir perfected the art of selective blindness. With eyes wide shut and ears firmly plugged,
10. they turned their gaze to the horizon, where their interests lay, conveniently ignoring the harrowing cries of their own sisters and daughters.
While the streets echoed with the anguished pleas of Kashmiri women, pleading for dignity and respect, the elite lounged in their
11. ivory towers, insulated from the realities of their people. Their silence, a cowardly retreat from responsibility, spoke volumes of their moral bankruptcy and spineless acquiescence.
In the theater of their conscience, Kashmiri women became mere extras, relegated to the
12. sidelines of their self-serving narrative. Their suffering, an inconvenient truth, brushed aside in favor of political expediency and personal gain.
The political elite of Azad Kashmir may choose to look the other way, but their complicity stains the very fabric of
13. their existence. For in the eyes of the oppressed, silence is not neutrality – it is betrayal, a damning indictment of their moral bankruptcy and moral cowardice.
Behaving as if the blood of Kashmiris flows to sustain their luxuries, they have the audacity to believe
14. that the people of the valley still fall for their gimmicks in the 21st century. But the people of Kashmir have seen through their charade. They no longer seek solace in the empty promises of their so-called leaders. Their dead bodies cry out for justice, their voices
15. silenced by the very elites who claim to speak on their behalf. The time has come for the people to rise, to reclaim their voice, and to say to their silent overlords – we do not need you anymore.
