Two months ago, I switched from posting on [redacted] to posting in English.
A lot has happened on my account since then, but the main thing is that it went from having ~100 points to ~255.
In this thread, I'll tell you everything.

I'm going to divide the thread into 4 parts:
1) Engagement
2) Followers
3) Influence
4) How to calculate influence
Let's get started.

1️⃣ Engagement
Engagement encompasses all the actions generated on a post: likes, comments, reposts, clicks...
For content creators, this might seem like the most important aspect, which is why clickbait is so prevalent on any social network.

More engagement = more visibility
In my case, in these 2 months, engagement has decreased by about 20-30% (30-40% considering the influx of new people during these months).
However, clicks and impressions have remained stable or even increased.

I believe this is mainly because most of my audience is still [redacted], and although they read my content and are interested, many of them feel angry/outraged/betrayed by my switch to English.
Totally understandable.

2️⃣ Followers
The growth rate remains the same as before.
Initially, most of my followers were from the previous language, but now the majority of people following me are english speakers.
The algorithm takes time to readjust your positioning.

Something very important: many "Smart Followers" (influential accounts in crypto eco) are starting to follow me.
If you create a thread in a language other than English no matter how good it is, it will only attract people who understand that.
In English, you attract everyone.

3️⃣ Influence
The most relevant part.
My account has experienced an exponential jump in influence over these two months.
This allows me to gain access to better and more information, better deals, etc.
Your network = your net worth

It's difficult to measure if an account is influential in crypto.
To do it, you need to spend a lot of time in this ecosystem, know many people, understand the lore... very challenging.
But there are several tools that can help with this.

My favorite, without a doubt, is @getmoni_io.
Moni has a database with most of the influential crypto profiles (aka Smart Followers).
Based on this, the mentions you receive from these accounts, your followers, and more, your account receives a score.

My account, as I mentioned, has gone from having 100 points to about 255 in these two months.
To give you an idea, the biggest CT [redacted] accounts have ~80-100 points; a very influential CT ENG account has around 3k points; the most influential in crypto have over 10k points.

Knowing whether an account is influential can also help you identify strong crypto projects.
A simple example:
- Project A: 150k followers, 35 points
- Project B: 4k followers, 400 points
Which one would you choose?

I think the answer is quite obvious: B is likely to be a thousand times more powerful.
A is either full of bots or irrelevant followers, so it's likely that such a project won't make much progress.

4️⃣ How to calculate influence

For example, something I often do is review the profiles of projects and compare their real influence, both for new projects and well-known ones.
