Some #Archaeological remains in #Maldives
In 1959, an image of Buddha was discovered on Thoddu Island. It is believed to date back to the 8th-9th century CE.
Unfortunately, in 2012, some radicals broke the sculptures.

The sage identified as Akaththiyar (Agastya), based on an engraving found on a Tantric stone cube at the museum. The cube also had engravings of Lakshmi, Kubera, and a Tantric deity. An inscription in Eveylaa Akuru was found at the bottom.

This is an image of a relic casket from Vajrayana Buddhism, which was on display at the National Museum. The casket bears an inscription in Nagari script dating back to the 10th century CE. [Courtesy: National Museum, Maldives]

Destroyed Images
The images that were destroyed had inscriptions in the ancient Maldivian script known as Eveylaa Akuru. Unfortunately, most of these inscriptions remain undeciphered and unpublished. [Courtesy: National Museum, Maldives]

Pallava Grantha inscription
One of the artefacts had the earliest written record of Maldives in Pallava-Grantha (Brahmi ) script of c. 6th Century CE. Written right to left.

Summary: Isdhoo Loamaafaanu is the oldest copper-plate book discovered in the Maldives (Isdhoo, Laamu Atoll) to date. It was written in 1194 AD (590 AH) in the Evēla form of the Divehi akuru, during the reign of Siri Fennaadheettha Mahaa Radun (Dhinei Kalaminja).
