Midjourney vs DALL-E 3 (text generation)
A few hours ago, Midjourney dropped a big update to v6 - and it's now even better at making text.
But is it better than DALL-E?
I ran 15 experiments - and here are the results:

1. Prompt: The words "THE LEGEND 27" on a movie poster featuring a legendary sword, and flames in the background

3. Prompt: A professional product photo of a colorful smoothie bottle with strawberries and kiwi, captioned "FRESH BLEND"

4. Prompt: A Coca Cola ad, featuring a beverage can design with traditional Hawaiian patterns

5. Prompt: A modern burger advertisement, with the words "THE BIG ONE", featuring a delicious huge beef burger, with tomatoes and lettuce in the background

6. Prompt: A minimalistic product shot of a bottle of perfume on a clean backdrop with the words "Floral Symphony", surrounded by fragrant white flowers

7. Custom sticker showcasing "Rachel" in a gradient blue font. The name is set against watercolor butterflies with hints of golden accents, illustrating a dynamic flight path. The design also features daisies in soft pastel hues, complemented by a faint watercolor splash background.

8. Prompt: Custom sticker design on an isolated white background with the bold words "Oliver" with a backdrop of a mountain range, and silhouettes of pine trees at sunset.

9. Prompt: A pixar style illustration of a happy hedgehog, standing beside a wooden signboard saying "SUNFLOWERS", in a meadow surrounded by blooming sunflowers

10. Prompt: The name 'SKYLINE TECH' integrated into a logo with a futuristic city skyline, with the name 'SKYLINE TECH' integrated

11. Prompt: A clean and minimalistic professionally designed vector of a biker speeding on a highway, with the words "FREEDOM ON WHEELS"

12. Prompt: A clean, minimalistic logo featuring an ice cream cone, with palm trees as the backdrop and the words "ICE CREAM OASIS"

13. Prompt: The words "Every apple has a story" in between Newton and Jobs standing side by side. Newton, with thick curly hair and 17th-century attire, holds a red apple. Beside him, Jobs, in his iconic black turtleneck and glasses, holds a sleek iPad.

14. Prompt: A modern cinematic movie poster with the words "FALLEN" showing a fallen angel in a dark forest

15. Prompt: An illustration of an avocado sitting in a therapist's chair, saying 'I just feel so empty inside' with a pit-sized hole in its center. The therapist, a spoon, scribbles notes.

Seems like Midjourney and DALL-E 3 are now VERY close - and it's a huge step up for MJ.
But both still have their pros and cons.
MJ is fantastic at some images - and embarrassing at others (especially the last one)

In general, Midjourney is good at:
- Cinematic shots
- Product photos
- Typography
DALL-E beats Midjourney at:
- Consistency
- Logo and sticker design
- Comics

Overall, the text generation accuracy of Midjourney seems to have doubled since the initial release of v6.
They are now in a solid position to beat DALL-E in text generation for most use cases, once inpainting is released.
