it boggles my mind how a book-reader can lack such plain comprehension skills | 🧵
I don't have the energy to breakdown everything wrong I found in this video, so only going through the major blunder.
I am actually done and I really want to move on but how is it that every single one of them commits the same mistake of not understanding the underlying philosophical problems of the western worldview, how do they always end up taking the same old rhetoric when it comes to Islam.
How is the claim that "our distance from the path described by the prophet for success, is a theological/ethical reason behind our weak state in these times" somehow a 'Radical Wahhabi Idea'? Shah Wali Ullah's core revival thought revolved around this, but i am sure...
mr. bookbuddy wouldn't even mind categorising SWU with the "Fundamentalists" due to his lack of knowledge on the subject.
And ofc, how easy it is to chain the words secularism communism capitalism and "Rationalism" together.
As if having a stance against either of them naturally translates to declaring war against reason itself. I would love to see him substantiate the mammoth claim that Jamat e Islami or the Deobandis (Since he mentioned Zia's Islamization) have stated to do "Jihad" against reason.
Ignorance is fine, but the last thing I would expect from an "educational" Youtuber is dishonesty. How can you translate Maryam Jameel's essay that is right in front of in such a manner?
How can you possibly interpret a metaphysical statement about the usage of science by the followers of scientism and atheism as an absolutist claim about the nature of science itself?
Translating "innovation and change were never upheld as 'intrinsic values'" as "Islam main jiddat aur tabdeeli ki koi jagah nahi" and translating "The 'Ideal' of Islamic Culture was not mechanical evolutionary progress but..." as "Islam main irtaqai tarakki ki koi jagah nahi"
is truly criminal, how can a book reader have such poor comprehension skills? Or maybe its a deliberate agenda-based misrepresentation, will keep husn-e-dhan and hold the former position for now.
Islam not having mechanical progress as its "Ideal" but instead having models of the Salaf and the Eternal word of God as its source and core is in no sense an outrageous claim. Is not having mechanical evolutionary progress as your 'Ideal' (meaning: main objective) an...
science view? Innovation in ethics religious law, and morality which work on the framework established by the Prophet is through consensus, one of the worst things possible - hence innovation in religion isn't an 'intrinsic value' of an Islamic Society.
And if you want to present Maryam Jameelah's usage of innovation as 'scientific innovation' to make the claim that she was radically against science, then that would only get one in more trouble as her actual views on science are such.
Why is it so difficult for people to differentiate or understand the distinction between 'Westernisation' and 'Science'? mr. bookbuddy himself states earlier in this video regarding the fact that science by itself doesn't have any meta-ethical value. How can then he...
not wrap his head around the basic idea that since science itself is a neutral sport, those who use and act as its ambassadors are going to paint it and present it with their own personal metaphysical worldviews? Why is it that a denial of the western metaphysical assumptions...
around science directly translates to a complete denial of the scientific method and philosophy?
Same mistake with Maulana Mawdudi's critique of "Western Science", how can he not even hear himself? Mawdudi's entire point even in the lecture he quotes is regarding Westernised branding of science.
The fact that Maulana Mawdudi is criticising the teaching of Law and Economics in the same breath is enough of a proof that he's not against these subjects (how can one possibly be against the study of law and economics) but the manner and metaphysical language in which these...
subjects are being taught and imparted.
He was in fact, one of the most open minded islamic scholar on the subject of science but only challenged the western God-less spirit that was being taught in fusion with Science and other western disciplines of education.
Presenting both Maryam Jameelah and Maulana Mawdudi as some sort of Anti-Science Radicals when their moderate stances on the scientific disciplines are literally just one google search away, tells a lot about how even reading books doesn't help some midwits.
oho kitni buri aur kam-aqal baat kardi to suggest this, bhala Allah ka kia taluq janwar kay khanay peenay se, sirf janwar aur insan ka masla hai ye tou.
The least this man can do now for me is not mention the Al-Ghazali Decline Narrative in this Islam and Science series of his. And i would forgive this error happily.
