There were some concerns before the season started, and after many inconsistent performances, it’s time to address them.
❗️ An aging striker
Lewandowski is 35 years old. Since the World Cup he has not seemed like himself. In other aspects of the game, such as holdup play, buildups and linkups, he is very limited. When he isn’t scoring, he can become a liability.

Last season we had Jordi Alba. Despite constant criticism, he could time his runs better than any other player, and had a world class final pass. Balde’s productivity in the final third has declined, and Marcos Alonso is his competitor…

Oriol Romeu was a clever purchase. A profile we needed at a very low cost. A short term solution, but he was the fourth/fifth choice for a reason. Against Real Sociedad we saw why Xavi wanted Zubimendi. A crucial role to fill.

A new season where it feels like we haven’t been able to field our strongest team. As a consequence, we still miss fundamentals, such as connection between players and rhythm going forward.
