A few of my favourite medical books from my MBBS days!
1. Clinical Examination by Talley and O’Conner. Personally my favourite book on clinical examination (as evident from the current state of it). A few reasons why I love this book
A. Question Boxes that really help take a focused history
B. Statistics for most signs! Not that one needs to know these numbers precisely, but being exposed to them helps develop an eye for Evidence Based Medicine
C. Filled with anecdotes from history! The authors have a sense of humour that is essential for a good medical author
de Gruchy’s Clinical Haematology in Medical Practice. One of those books that can be read like a novel! Spent a lot of fond hours of MBBS with this one. Books like these helped shape a perspective and push me towards medicine!
This was gifted to me by @KanishkaDavda in my final year of MBBS and I fell in love with Immunology (to the point that I almost picked it over Neuro as a super-speciality!)
Essentials of immunology are explained in such a lucid and fun manner. Every page incites an “ohh! That’s what happens ?!!”
Highly recommend this one. Even someone not doing MBBS can understand this book. That’s how good it is!
I like books which have more knowledge / wisdom than information. These are such!
Maybe next Saturday some more recommendations?
