This is because a lot of businesses rely heavily on Excel. But this isn't the major reason.
Excel is intuitive and easy to pick up. You learn a lot about data structures, data manipulation, formulas & functions, and various Data Analytics techniques in Excel.

These skills and concepts are transferrable to other data tools.
Excel has been here for decades (since 1985), long before the inception of Power BI (launched in 2015). But Excel has also evolved with the times, and it's not losing its relevance anytime soon…or ever. 💫

Excel is a powerful data tool, and the 2 Powers of Excel (Power Query and Power Pivot) were both introduced initially as Excel add-ins in 2010. They are now integral parts of later versions of Excel. These 2 Powers of Excel are the underlying framework that Power BI runs on.

Power Query and Power Pivot in Excel are literally THE SAME in Power BI, and they are all products of Microsoft. The same data modelling and DAX language used in Power BI started in Excel Power Pivot. Transforming & loading data,
