BCG - one of the top 3 consulting firms in the world - just released a groundbreaking report on AI in the workplace.
The report surveyed 12,000+ workers from 18 countries.
9 surprising insights from the report you should know:
1. Despite rising fears about AI in the media, 17% more people felt optimistic about AI compared to 5 years ago.
Concern about AI also dropped by 10% over the same period.
2. 80% of company leaders are using AI tools regularly.
But more than half of frontline employees are not using AI!
Will this make leaders more prepared for the threats and opportunities of AI compared to the people that they manage?
3. More than 1 in every 3 workers believes that their job will be eliminated by AI.
86% believe that they need to be up-skilled to cope with the changes that AI will bring.
4. Leaders are the most optimistic about AI, whereas frontline employees are the most concerned.
Could this mean that frontline employees fear automation and replacement by AI the most? And leaders fear it the least?
5. Developed countries like the US and Japan are the least optimistic and most concerned about AI.
But developing regions like the Middle East and India are the most optimistic and least concerned about AI.
6. Those who use AI are more optimistic about the technology than those who don't.
Whereas concern about AI is also highest is non-users, and lowest in regular users.
7. Over 70% of frontline employees do not believe that their companies have adequate measures to ensure AI is used responsibly.
Whereas almost 70% of leaders believe the opposite - a huge disconnect!
8. An overwhelming majority of employees across every surveyed country believe that AI needs to be regulated.
9. The report ended with 3 key recommendations for leaders:
