Cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Indore, have been seeing a sudden rise in the number of patients with persistent cough, trouble breathing and even fever. Doctors believe that the influenza (H3N2) virus is responsible for the same.
The H3N2 virus generally triggers a certain reaction in the upper airways. While the fever, cough, cold, and body ache settle in 3-5 days, the dry cough persists for a few weeks.
Prevention
1.Maintain hand hygiene by washing your hands with soap and water frequently.
2. Wear a face mask and avoid crowded areas.
3. Refrain from touching your nose, mouth and spitting in public places.
4. Cover your nose and mouth properly when you cough or sneeze.
5. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
6. If you have a fever or body aches, consider taking paracetamol.
7. Avoid shaking hands and opt for other non-contact forms of greeting.
8. Do not self-medicate, and only take medications after consulting with a medical professional Doctors.
9. Avoid eating while sitting in close proximity to others.
