The Mahalakshmi Ashtakam was first mentioned in the Padma Puraan. Devraj Indra had uttered this mantra. The meaning of the word ‘ashtakam’ is octet. The Mahalakshmi Ashtakam has 8 Shloka and 3 falshruti shlokas.
As said in #Falshruti If the mantra is chanted once a day, sins are destroyed. Reciting the mantra twice a day ensures wealth and prosperity. Reciting thrice a day ensures victory over enemies.
