@KhanFaridMD @IMPOCUSFocus Nothing replaces a good history because that’s what determines what physical exam signs/parameters you are going to elicit. In real life, you won’t do 12 cranial nerve examination in a patient presenting with heart failure because the history suggests a different disease process.
@KhanFaridMD @IMPOCUSFocus With regards to #POCUS replacing physical examination vs not, it makes no sense because insonation is one component of physical examination. How can auscultation replace inspection?
@KhanFaridMD @IMPOCUSFocus Having said that, #POCUS does replace less useful parts of conventional exam because it can provide more information in a time efficient manner. Why would you do immediate auscultation when stethoscope is available? Why would you do vocal fremitus when you
@KhanFaridMD @IMPOCUSFocus can get the information you are looking for quickly and with a better diagnostic accuracy?
Physical examination evolves over time. If we use 🩺 it’s
@KhanFaridMD @IMPOCUSFocus not a disrespect to physicians who performed immediate auscultation extremely well 🤦🏽‍♂️ (that’s what POCUS-haters [? hatred due to ignorance] make it sound like).
I rest my case 👨‍⚖️
