Accordingly Teesta's report was a hatchet job. It whitewashed Godhra as an accident, and failed to meet with or interview relatives of a single Hindu victim in the report.

Both sides spun up a false narrative. Some Hindu were happy that "Muslims were taught a lesson" accepted Congress propaganda of Modi's culpability, crowning him "Hindu Hriday Samrat." Meanwhile the worldwide NGO ecosystem, populated by the Indian Left termed him a mass murderer.
In reality, Modi was neither Hindu Hriday Samrat, nor a mass-murderer.
He acted the best he could to quell the riots, including shoot at sight orders against rioters.
India, and Gujarat, had faced many Hindu-Muslim riots before, originally seeded by British divide and rule.
