From Candragupta I to Kumāragupta, the average reign is 32 years. The fact that we have four successive rulers having such long reigns is one of the main reasons why the Imperial Guptas had such a great impact on Indian History. +
You need great individuals to rule a kingdom. But if they don't live long enough, their greatness is of no use.
The same is true for the Mughals. The Mughal Emperors, from Akbar to Aurangzeb, had an average reign of 37.5 years. +
These long reigns provided stability even when the Empire was thrown into a war of succession every time a ruler died.
The Imperial Guptas also had their fair share of fratricidal wars.
There wouldn't have been a Mughal Empire if Akbar hadn't ruled for 49 long years.
