They started with freezing Afghanistan’s assets, kept Talibans names in UN blacklist, continuously violated Afghanistan’s airspace with its armed UAVs and not only is hesitant to recognise Taliban’s government but has prevented the rest of world from recognising the IEA.

We know Doha-agreement did not go so well, the US knows it can not get rid of the Taliban so the focus should be on how to work with the Taliban & help this impoverished country.

Clearly the US is either not concerned about Afghanistan (which it should be) or it does not have any idea on how to get along with the Taliban or at least on how to get them to trust the US & accept their stipulations.

The US should always keep in mind that the Taliban are not a revolutionary group but a reactionary group.

So far, the US is only driving the Taliban leadership to react negatively in response to the steps taken by the United States.

An alternative approach would be to incentivise the Taliban to introduce reforms. Like green signals should be given to certain countries to recognise Taliban government and then expect Taliban to bring reform.

This proposition has to be shared with the Taliban so they will know that after those recognitions it will be Talibans turn to move forward with reforms or normalisation.
