You have an octopus on your face. 🐙
Not really. But, this quick exercise can help you fight imposter syndrome and overcome spiraling when you make a mistake at work—hypothetically of course.
When you make that mistake or imposter syndrome starts knocking, envision an octopus stuck to your face.
Now, let’s try to “pry” it off.
1/ What does the octopus look like?
2/ What are the feelings you’re feeling and fears you have?
3/ Why?
🛑 Stop here and remind yourself that what you’re feeling is reasonable.
4/ What’s something concrete you can do to keep this from happening again or do right now to redirect yourself?
5/ Ok. Take a deep breath, do those things, and then start something else.
