Shri Chidambar Dixit Swami, an Avatar of Shankar Bhagwan was born on Kartik Vadya Shashti, Somavar, Pushya Nakshatra, Shalivahan Shake 1680 at Murgod (MH-KA border).

young Chidambara and shouted at him to take food at home. She had a bowl full of rice and ghee for him to eat. When maata Laxmi asked Chidambara to open his mouth to feed him, she was astounded to see the universe within his mouth and planets moving around.
It was is like Yashodamaata who saw the whole universe in the mouth of Lord Shri krishna. Soon she remembered the avatara of Lord Shiva. And at the same time she felt sorry for the words of anger uttered by her while calling him for eating food.
When Chidambara reached 8 years of age (the time of investiture of the sacred thread i.e. janawa/ Janiwar) the thread bearing ceremony was arranged at Murugod. The white thread is charged with spiritual values. It is a part of ritual or initiation into a spiritual faith.
The preists administer the holy pledge to the wearer and amidst the invocation of Gods, prayers and hymns. During the ceremony, Chidambara had an aura of the bright Sun.

He arranged a grand Yajna called Somyaag.

During his Avatarkarya he did many such things,He United Shaivas and Vaishnavas , did garvharan of many Brahmins and bring them on the path of Dharma.
It is said that his curse was responsible of Downfall of Bajirao-II, and Karveer Sansthans Minister Ratnakar.
