Do you know that a major turning point in the 3rd battle of Panipat was because of one robber chieftain named Jeta Gujar. Jeta was hard pressed by Govind rao "Bundele", a karhade brahmin general of peshwas during latter's raid in doab for supplies.
Hence Jeta Gujar sent info of Govind rao's location to his overlord, the rohilla leader, Najib Khan, who in turn informed Abdali. Abdali sent a force under his general Atai Khan. Govind pant was taking bath with his army when Atai Khan crossing after crossing Jamuna surprised
Govind pant by forced march. Govind pant tried to flee but was unseated from his horse and left behind by his soldiers including by his own son in lurch. Govind pant's head was cut off by the Afghans and was sent to Abdali who in turn sent it to Sadashivrao. A good amount of
booty fell in Afghans hand. Before this debacle, Marathas were getting supplies while Afghans suffered due to shortage of food, with this event the tables turned, no longer Sadashivrao sent any raid fearing attacks, and Abdali got uninterrupted supplies from doab which was
abundant in crops. Marathas from now on lived under virtual siege, an attempt to get supplies also failed miserably, and terror struck the maratha camp which culminated in a forced battle of panipat a few weeks later. Result was inevitable.
The descendants of same jeta gujar, got a few villages from Rohillas and became kind of a zamindari which caste chauvinists of present times calls "gujjar riyasat". It was anything but a riyasat, anyway, it was later ended/curtailed by british like all other zamindaris
of gujars eg Landhaura even though they showed to british grant of land by Rohilla Najaf Khan's farmans. According to historians whether Jeta Gujar was a villain of Panipat or Peshwai/marathas were villain for extorting every hindu worth the name depends upon which side you take.
Although Naga Sadhus did take part in the Panipat battle but from the side of Abdali under Shuja ud daula, despite Naga sadhu's hatred for Abdali and Abdali's hatred for these hindu sadhus.
PS: The zamindari of descendants of Jeta gujar given by Rohillas was Paricchitgarh near Meerut, forgot to write that.
It seems son of Jeta Gujar also fought under Najib Khan against Jat Raja Surajmal, and Surajmal's head was also cut off by this army in the same brutal manner.
