Jagdamba Sword of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
High definition images procured by history researcher Shri Malojirao Jagdale after months of correspondence with Royal Collection Trust, London.
This Portuguese made blade was acquired by the Chatrapati from Raja KhemSavant of Kudal. He named it Jagdamba after the mother goddess. The hilt of Jagdamba sword is studded with large Diamonds, Rubees and Emeralds with floral Gold decoration.
Mention of this Sabre in "Catalogue of the collection of Indian arms and objects of art presented by the princes and nobles of India to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales ... on the occasion of his visit to India in 1875-1876 ; now in the Indian Room at Marlborough House"
