Before the 19th century, diamonds were numerous in India, & they were found along the banks & rivers of this exotic area, albeit they are now scarce. Becoz additional diamond deposits had yet to be identified, India became synonymous with diamonds & its magical & mystical history
INDIA provided the first diamonds. For decades, India was the only site where these valuable stones could be found.
Not for nothing is India known as the "golden bird" or "sone ki chidiya." According to some reports, ancient India was a worldwide commerce hub that led the world in exporting a variety of goods such as cotton, jewels, food, and diamonds.
In exchange for gold, India was also the major exporter of spices to the Romans.
Apart from that, India was a wealthy and affluent country before the invasions, particularly the colonial ones, with an abundance of virtually every form of wealth
According to legend, the British invaded India because of its wealth, the lack of unity among the numerous kingdoms, and abundant labor.
This conquest, however, gave the British full run over India's treasuries, and many Indian treasures and antiquities ended up in England's coffers.
