Kinzinger had to make a choice between being an elected representative and a fixture on MSNBC and it appears he has made his choice.

I think Kinzinger has done plenty of good and decent things. I think he, like many former or soon-to-former Republicans, also forgot that his job is to represent people who are not him who - other than him - have no voice in one of our governing bodies.

Also, I think we just give people in his position too much credit for these things. Yes, it’s hard to withstand the disapproval of your colleagues and the boos of your detractors.
But this isn’t quite facing a firing squad.

There are a ton of lucrative options for him moving forward that will align with his values. That’s great.
People should be able to elect the people they think represent them to represent them.
