I am not too educated nor too well read.
If you don't like kanyādāna, don't do it. You have an option of a civil marriage in all countries.
It is the same argument as in Sabarimalai. If you don't like it, don't do / don't go.
You have no business interfering with traditions.
Kanyādāna, saptapadi, and PanigrahaNa are our culture.
We will follow it. We have been doing it the same way, with the same symbolism since before your favorite civilizations were born.
If you don't like them, please feel free to create your own practices and rituals. 🙏🏾 Thanks
With things like these, you are either in or out.
Either you buy into the whole thing, the culture, the ritual, the civilization and the meaning - or you don't. There is no middle ground hereafter.
Enough of stripping our rituals of their meanings.
ThiruvONam, the most auspicious of naksatra for Vishnu + Vāmana Jayanti becomes a "culture day", to be celebrated with a Santa Claus look alike.
Someone quotes "ईशावास्यम् इदं सर्वं" and says this refers to Yeshu.
Prānayāma becomes coherence breathing, and you have Beer yoga.
You have decoupled everything that sacred .. to enjoy the fruits of here.
Why should I stand and watch while you whittle away at the basis of what made this civilization?
Whether you like it or not, the culture, the rituals and the civilization are a package deal.
They are not severable. Perhaps you can .. but none of the three will survive long if severed.
If it is your wish that you only want the glitz and glamour and not the other things - please, by all means.
Do not come and pontificate. Get lost and stay lost.
