Usually Taliban are very quick to react to any developments concerning Afghanistan. But when it comes to the news about Turkish forces staying to protect Kabul airport after foreign forces depart, one feels a strange kind in silence from the Talibans side.

In my humble opinion, it’s not very likely that the Taliban will accept any foreign forces (be it Muslim or non-Muslim) staying in Afghanistan, specially not when those forces are protecting Afghan government’s most important & strategic location.

If Turkey decides to stay & protect Kabul’s airport then it’s most likely that Taliban will hesitate to attend any conferences/meetings in Turkey. Another likelihood is that the Turkish forces will become the target of Taliban attacks.

So what’s all this silence about? Why are Taliban so quite about it? Did Khalilzad persuaded them not to publicly reveal their position on this issue until it’s all clear?
Or are the TB in a state of confusion, and don’t exactly know what the US & its allies are up to?

One thing is for sure, it’s not their normal practice, they are very fast in rejecting such proposition. Something is cooking.
