Recently we are seeing a lot of reports on the US negotiating extension of troops withdrawal deadline with the Taliban. I do understand that this extension is very important, but the question is what if it’s not feasible? What if the Taliban don’t agree to it?

I think, the reason why we are not seeing any public statements is that Biden administration has decided that it’s time to pack up & leave. That’s why they are busy work on the aftermath of the troops departure.

The Taliban agreed to it in return of their prisoners, they wanted their prisoners released, some prior to intra-Afghan talks, while other during the intra-Afghan talks.

So now back to the topic, well, I will rest my case here. I don’t think the US is seeking an extension but it is rather seeking a political deal in between Afghans be it prior to its departure or after. It’s seeking other commitments from Taliban so that it does not walk...
