Foremost among Kashmiri Saints was the great "seer", Lalleshwari, popularly known as Lal Ded (Mother Lalla) of the Kashmir #Shaivism school of philosophy.
She was the creator of the style of mystic poetry called vatsun or Vakhs, "speech" (from Sanskrit vaak). Known as Lal Vakhs,Lal Ded is also known by various other names, including Lal Dyad (Dyad means "Grandmother"), Lal Diddi, Lalleshwari,Lalla Yogishwari/Yogeshwari and Lalishri
She continued the tradition of Shaivism in Kashmir, which was known as Trika before 1900.
When Lalla was twenty-six she renounced the family and became a devotee of Shiva.
