Sawant Ji,
Sardesai’s ‘New History of Marathas’ is not a ‘contemporary source’.
But anyway, allow me to share some more claims from it.
1) Samarth Ramdas was ShivChattrapati’s Guru.
2) Maharaj wanted to establish ’Hindu Religious Autonomy’ for the whole country.

Sardesai also cites ShambuChhatrapati’s famous ‘Danapatra’ in which ShivChhatrapati is called as ‘Haindav-dharma-Uddharaka’.
ShambuRaje also calls his father ‘यौवनारंभगृहीतम्लेच्छक्षयदीक्षा’ which means ‘someone who had decided to destroy Mlecchas in his adolescence’.

As far as Sardesai’s claim of ‘a mosque built by ShivChhatrapati on Raigad’ is concerned, there are no contemporary proofs to justify it.
Renowned historians such Gajanan Mehendale and Pandurang Balkawade have rubbished this claim.

But I am sure that despite quoting from G.S Sardesai’s New History of Marathas, Mr.Sawant won’t agree to these claims.
He is just interested in interpreting history selectively to distort facts.
The fact that Mr.Sawant used this ‘cropped SS’ is enough to prove my point.

I say this again - the great ShivChhatrapati was tolerant towards all religions but was a staunch practising Hindu.
But being tolerant is not as same as being secular.
