مثل ماوعدتكم بسوي لكم "ثريد عن الفطريات" وراح يكون بيسك الي مهم كل طالب يعرف عنها واحيانا يسألون الطلاب بالمقابلات الشخصية عنها كنوع من الاختبار وحرام تكون مو مُلم فيها
بسم الله نبدأ

Some basic terms:
Fungi (fungus)
Hyphae (hypha) = cellular thread
Septate = hyphae with cross walls
non-septate (coenocytic)= hyphae without cross walls
Mycelium = complex of hyphae
The term mold is generally used to describe a fungus which produces hyphae.

The term yeast is generally used to describe a fungus which reproduces by budding.

What are fungi?
1- Fungi are microorganisms that are eukaryotic, non-motile, heterotroph.
2- Fungal body is usually filamentous (hyphae, mycelia) or unicellular (yeasts).
5- Cell membranes have ergosterol (not cholesterol).

6- Cell contents include cytoplasm, nuclei, ribosomes, golgi apparatus, mitochondria, lysosomes, glycogen, lipids, crystals, vacuoles and endoplasmic reticulum.

Morphology of Fungi:
1-Filamentous (mold).
2-Yeast
3-Dimorphic (can have both morphology. Mold at 25°C and yeast at 37°C.

Reproduction of Fungi
--Asexual reproduction
--Sexual reproduction

Resistance to extreme conditions
1-Resistant to dryness, sunlight, UV light and many chemicals
2-Sensitive to wet heat

1- Yeast
Round, oval or elongated unicellular cells.
Few capsulated
Reproduction;
Sexual .
Asexual : by budding (blastoconidia or blastospores)
Examples of pathogenic yeast:
Candida albicans

2- Filamentous fungi:
Multicellular
Hyphae form mycelium
Hyphae may be septate or aseptate
Reproduction:
Asexual
Sexual.
Examples of pathogenic molds;
Dermatophytes

3- Dimorphic fungi:
Dimorphism this term is used to describe a fungus which occurs in two different forms (temperature and place), for example, some pathogenic fungi are filamentous in culture or nature and yeast-like in infected tissues.
Examples:
Paracoccidioides brasiliensis
