It was Rani Jinda who actually wanted to get rid of Khalsa Panchs because they were among those who killed his brother Jwahar Singh. She wanted to have revenge of his death from them by sending in the mouth of death. For this she tried her every best thing she wanted to kill them
in the hands of Brits. After which she can be enthroned with her son without any intervention of various Sikh lobbies.
Characterless Rani Jinda Kaur have ordered the Col. Alexander Gardner to make sure not a single Khalsa Soldier to be returned from the Field of war.
Even she was ready to marry a powerful British officer to secure her power. Gulab Singh knew everything about this.
Gulab Singh can resist but resisting means the death like his brothers, sons and nephew. So, he did what was suitable for him and his fatherland.
Gulab Singh had the power of more than 40,000 soldiers with him, even Khalsas were ready to recognise him as their king at the time when Lal Singh and Tej Singh betrayed them. They demanded the killing of these two traitors from him.
After losing Anglo-Sikh war, Sikhs were actually ready to pay 50 lakh rupee to save their hold in Punjab as war indemnity and they were ceding all the territories situated between Beas and Indus including provinces of Kashmir and Hazara to the Britishers for next 1 crore rupees.
If Gulab Singh paid 75 lakh, that Sikhs were not able to pay as their indemnity and were ceding all the territories to British Domain then what wrong he did?
All the prevailing situations were such like that Gulab Singh had no other way than what he did that time.
If Sikh anarchy had not started after death of Ranjit Singh then nothing had happened what happened next. It was no other than Sikhs themselves who were responsible for Sikh Raj.
