Thread on who ANONYMOUS is and a few things they have done. This is HUGE.
for those that dont know, ANONYMOUS is an international hacktivist group that targets government systems, agencies, corporations, institutions, and the church of scientology.
(A few) of their operations include:
PROJECT CHANOLOGY (2008) & OPERATION PAYBACK (2010) raided, spammed, blocked, prank called & faxed, and the church of scientology (because 'a corporation should not own a religion and its followers.')
WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH ATTACKS (2011-12) due to their rampant homophobia ANONYMOUS published a webletter threatening them. Once the church announced they would picket at sandy hook elementary, they mass released names, emails, phone numbers, and addresses of members, (1/2)
OPERATION FERGUSON (2014) after the shooting of Michael Brown, ANONYMOUS and other hacktivist organizations came together. They organized cyberprotests against police and swore that if even a single protester got injured or harassed that they would attack the citys servers (1/2)
and computers and render them inoperable. The Internet crashed at City Hall and phone lines were cut. They then announced a cyber war on the KKK, hacking any twitter accounts and website servers, releasing personal information of members.
OPERATION TAMIR RICE (2014) hacked into and erased Cleveland city's website, replacing it with a video of Tamir Rice being shot by a police officer. They Later used public platforms to uncover personal information of the undisclosed police officer.
OPERATION KKK (2015) after previous run in, they announced to release 1,000 + more names of KKK members and affiliates stating "You are terrorists that hide your identities beneath sheets and infiltrate society on every level. (1/2)
The privacy of the Ku Klux Klan no longer exists in cyberspace." They released the names and information of those a week later.
And after almost 4 years:
-OPERATION UN (2020) where they hacked into the United Nations website and coded a page for Taiwan, which hasn't been included in the UN since 1971. (1/2)

They left photos of the flag of Taiwan, Taiwan independence flag, KMT emblem, and an ANONYMOUS symbol along with a caption.
Today, ANONYMOUS posted a video aimed at the MPD on various platforms and sent it to their station, at least 20 minutes ago MPD's site was unreachable, and still is #BLACK_LIVES_MATTER

apx. 12:10 am: ANONYMOUS posts a video warning labelled to the Minneapolis Police Department, stating they will "expose their crimes to the world."
Not even 20 minutes afterwards, MPD's site is unreachable.
