Syrian-Kurdish politician Hevrin Khalaf was killed on 12 October 2019
A Turkish-backed Syrian rebel force was accused of killing her, but they deny it
But @BBCArabic have found evidence which tells a different story: bbc.in
"Hevrin left a huge gap in the party when she was martyred”
Nubahar Mustafa was Hevrin Khalaf’s friend and roommate
Fighters from Ahrar al-Sharqiya, part of the Turkey-backed Syrian National Army, have been accused of killing her
They posted videos, filmed in the early morning, on messaging service Telegram on 12 October 2019
Ahrar al-Sharqiya filmed an apparent execution of someone else, at the same Tirwaziya checkpoint where Hevrin Khalaf was killed
So, how can @BBCArabic be sure where and when these videos were taken?
Journalists analysed videos, using open source investigation tools
Al-Sharqiya has told @BBCArabic “we didn't target her specifically and we do not know how she was killed”
But this video tells a different story
So, is it Hevrin Khalaf’s voice?
Her mother says it is
A witness, who has asked us to conceal his identity, told @BBCArabic, exclusively, what happened after the shooting of Hevrin Khalaf
A medical report, from after her death, states Hevrin
Khalaf was shot more than 20 times
Both her legs were broken, and she was subjected to severe physical assault
Journalists from @BBCArabic found Hevrin Khalaf was dragged from the car, alive, and executed on the road by the Ahrar al-Sharqiya fighters
Ahrar al-Sharqiya told @BBCArabic:
“In regards to the killing of Hevrin Khalaf we have denied clearly a number of times our responsibility of killing her”
